Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that upholds the highest international standards of scholarly publishing. The journal operates within the principles of academic freedom, impartiality, and scientific integrity, employing a double-blind peer review process to ensure objectivity and transparency. Its publication policy prioritizes not only scientific quality but also intellectual originality, methodological rigor, and ethical responsibility.

1. Scientific Impartiality and Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences first undergo preliminary evaluation by the editorial board to assess their suitability and compliance with the journal’s scope and format. Manuscripts deemed appropriate are then sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

The double-blind review system ensures that both author and reviewer identities remain anonymous, thereby maintaining an unbiased and objective evaluation process. Review reports are kept confidential and are accessible only to the editorial board.

The peer-review process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial board decides whether the manuscript will be accepted, revised and resubmitted, or rejected. All review reports are archived in accordance with the principles of academic transparency, accountability, and quality assurance.

2. Editorial Responsibility and Publication Process

The editorial board of Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences is committed to maintaining the highest level of academic integrity and scientific quality. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, and contribution to the field, without regard to the authors’ gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

Accepted manuscripts undergo a detailed technical and linguistic revision, plagiarism check (using tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate), and DOI assignment before publication.

3. Publication Language and Frequency

The journal publishes articles in Turkish and English and is issued four times a year (March, June, September, and December). Special issues may be published on specific themes or in connection with academic events upon the decision of the editorial board.

4. Open Access Policy

In line with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences adopts a full open-access publishing model. All articles are freely available to readers and researchers worldwide without subscription or access fees.

Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to full texts for non-commercial purposes, provided that proper attribution is given to the original work.

The journal ensures long-term digital preservation of its content through open-access archiving systems such as LOCKSS and PKP PN.

5. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their published works. However, they grant Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences the right to publish and distribute their articles under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

This license allows users to share, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format, as long as the original authors are properly cited and the content is not used for commercial purposes.

6. Archiving and Digital Object Identifier (DOI) System

Each published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number to ensure permanent access, citation tracking, and global discoverability. The journal’s digital archive is securely stored in long-term repository systems in compliance with international digital preservation standards.

7. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct Policy

All submissions are screened for plagiarism before the review process. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% are not considered for review.

Cases of academic misconduct—including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or fake authorship—result in the rejection of the manuscript. When necessary, the authors’ affiliated institutions are formally notified.
