Open Access Policy

Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences adopts a full open access publishing model, founded on the belief that scientific knowledge is a public good and should not remain confined to academic circles. This policy aims to encourage the free exchange of information, enhance the visibility of scholarly production, and ensure that research outcomes are accessible to all segments of society.

1. Principles of Open Access

The open access policy of Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences is fully aligned with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

All published articles are immediately, permanently, and freely accessible without subscription or registration barriers. Users may read, download, share, print, link to, and reproduce the full text of any article for educational or research purposes, provided proper attribution is given to the original source.

The journal regards the open circulation of knowledge not only as a means of disseminating academic production but also as an ethical responsibility that promotes the democratization of science and contributes to social value creation.

2. Licensing and Copyright

All articles published in Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

This license permits users to share, copy, redistribute, and adapt the content for non-commercial purposes, as long as appropriate credit is given to the author(s).

Authors retain full copyright of their work but grant the journal the right to publish it in open access form. This approach both protects intellectual ownership and guarantees the global accessibility of research results.

3. Article Processing Charges and Financial Transparency

Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences operates under a free open access model and does not impose any financial barriers at any stage of the publication process.

  • No submission, review, editing, DOI assignment, or publication fees are charged.
  • The journal does not require Article Processing Charges (APC) or any equivalent payment.
  • Financial sustainability is maintained through institutional resources, voluntary academic contributions, and the infrastructural support of affiliated universities and research institutions.

This policy reflects the journal’s commitment to equitable access to scientific knowledge and the elimination of economic barriers in academic publishing.

4. Archiving and Long-Term Accessibility

To ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of its content, Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences utilizes internationally recognized digital archiving systems.

  • The journal is integrated with LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and the PKP Preservation Network (PN).
  • Each article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and all metadata are registered with CrossRef, Google Scholar, and OpenAIRE.
  • The full archive is securely preserved in national digital library systems such as DergiPark TR and TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM.

These measures guarantee continuous accessibility and data integrity, even in the event of technical disruptions.

5. Open Science and Data Sharing

Paradigma Journal of Social Sciences supports the principles of open science and encourages authors to contribute to transparency and reproducibility in research.

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Share datasets, visualizations, software codes, and methodological tools in publicly accessible repositories.
  • Provide links (DOI, URL, or database reference) to shared data at the end of their manuscript under the heading “Data Availability Statement.”

Open data practices are viewed as essential to ensuring verifiability, replicability, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the scientific community.

6. Open Access Ethics and User Rights

The journal adheres to the ethical frameworks of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) in all its open access activities.

Accordingly:

  • Users may utilize published materials solely for academic, educational, and research purposes.
  • Commercial reproduction, sale, or licensing of published works is strictly prohibited.
  • The open access policy seeks to promote ethical, fair, and sustainable knowledge exchange among authors, reviewers, readers, and institutions.
